TiāntánThe Temple of Heaven and Earth was built in 1406-1420 under command of emperor Yong Le(reigned 1402-1424) of the Ming Dynasty. It was built after China's capital became Beijing(instead of Nanjing). Emperor Jia Jiang(reigned 1522-1567), also emperor during the Ming Dynasty, split the Temple of Heaven and Earth into two temples, the Temple of Heaven and the Temple of Earth(both were equal distance from the Forbidden City). The Temple of Heaven was also expanded. Find out more: |
